The project partners of the international project EIFNEG – EMOCAL INTELLIGENCE FOR A NEW EUROPEAN GENERATION, which is implemented under the Erasmus+ programme, met for the second time at a joint meeting today 6.6., unfortunately not in the originally planned Portuguese city of Braga, but online.

In addition to various organisational issues, the meeting discussed in particular the work and efforts made so far on the first project deliverable, which includes a summary report on the situation regarding the status of emotional intelligence in schools in different European countries.

The research conducted so far in the Czech Republic, Romania and Spain has shown that emotional intelligence is generally not included in the school curriculum, not enough mental health programmes are organised in schools and teachers in particular would need training on this topic and how to pass it on.

In the following period, the project partners will elaborate the results of surveys among students and teachers in the project partners’ countries and select 10 key areas of emotional intelligence, on the basis of which the project partners will then develop innovative educational materials on this topic for both students and teachers in the following period.
