On 18th and 19th April we had another project meeting within the YoungLEAD project, this time in Dublin, Ireland, at De La Salle College (https://www.delasallecollege.com/). The meeting was attended by a representative from IEPS, teachers from Štrossmayerovo náměstí Primary School and other project partners and teachers from Spain and Ireland.
During the meeting we tested some of the soft skills games for students, which are part of the first output “Leadership skills games for students”, which we are now finalising and will later be part of the project’s learning platform. We also agreed with partners to test the games with students, and to share them in our group. We have also finalised another deliverable here, which is the Methodic Guide for teachers. This is still in English and now remains to be translated.
We also had the opportunity to tour the school, see the students’ involvement in the lessons, and learn from the headteacher, Siobhan Foster, all the details of how the school works. We also learnt a lot of information about the Irish school education system. It was very interesting to hear how the different school systems in the Czech Republic and Ireland differ. De La Salle College is a predominantly boys’ secondary school with approximately 380 students and 30 staff and is an inclusive school with the aim of educating each student to their full academic, cultural, social and societal potential.
We concluded by discussing the next steps, including the necessary administration, and then had an Irish themed evening where we had the opportunity to further discuss with Czech, Irish and Spanish teachers and share our cultures.
